BRIGHTNESS AND IMAGE SIZE – HOW DO YOU CHOOSE?
The International Display Measurement Standards (IDMS) advocates 2 metrics for measuring the image brightness of a projector. These may be called Color Light Output (CLO) aka Color Brightness and White Light Output (WLO) aka White Brightness. However, all projectors do not have equal values of Color and White Brightness. For example, a customer could end up purchasing a projector which is promoted having a brightness of 5,000 Lumens when its Color Brightness is just 1,700 Lumens. In practice OEMs mostly publish White Brightness values labeled as Brightness which doesn’t convey the Color Brightness deficiency to the customer.
Images are created with both projectors and other display devices. Increasingly customers are faced with the dilemma of choosing between a projector and an alternative display device like a flat panel. The deliberations soon turn in to a comparison of specifications, technology and appearances while wholly discounting the functional elements resulting in a dysfunctional display environment. A functional display installation is one which is visible to every person seated in a viable viewing area. There are metrics that assist a customer and an AV designer to make the right choices of image size. The choice of the technology and display device itself is a techno commercial subset of the of the optimal image size.

Pravin Kumar
Product Manager, Epson India
Pravin Kumar has facilitated buyers and AV designers in choosing the right Epson projector for their requirements since 2001 in various roles in sales and product management. Pravin also regularly provides training to Epson partners on projection technology and image elements in AV design. Epson India is a fully owned subsidiary of the Seiko Epson Corporation that designs and manufactures 3LCD projectors with lamp and laser light source. The company has a wide portfolio of 3LCD projectors from 3,000 to 30,000 Lumens.

India is at an interesting digital inflection point, and corporations regardless of size are undertaking digital business transformations using emerging technologies to stay relevant and profitable. Every sector -- be it healthcare, hospitality, retail or even government – are adopting disruptive next-gen technologies to create a competitive advantage.
The importance of a digital strategy is inevitable in this hyper converging landscape, and almost every Indian firm is hedging its bets on a comprehensive digital strategy as its future depends on it. This has been corroborated by independent analyst reports which state that India leads the world in the digital transformation business impact scorecard. Indian firms are also embracing a mobile-first approach, and are looking at embracing new technologies such as virtual reality, robotics and IoT to take customer service to the next level.
Understanding the importance of emerging technologies, Express Computer is partnering with InfoComm India, to bring together a conference focused on Digital Transformation. This conference will gather India’s top CIOs and key decision makers engaged in deploying IT within their organizations onto a common knowledge sharing platform.
Additionally, through this conference we will also honor leading organizations in each sector (healthcare, hospitality, retail or even government) for their initiatives and efforts in transforming their business using IT.

Building Livable Cities (In collaboration with: All India Institute of Local Self Government)
The world is urbanising faster than ever and the fastest growth is evidently happening in Asia. The rapid economic growth in Asian cities is attracting more than 120,000 new urbanites daily. According to an Asian Development Bank (ADB) report, around 65% of all Asians will reside in cities by 2050. This fast-paced urbanisation demands for better amenities in cities for the increasing urban population. Cities need to provide them a liveable environment where they can live, work, and undertake leisure time activity with ease. There is no clear-cut definition of a Liveable City but the cities where people long to stay or visit often are perceived as “liveable”.
To build liveable cities, cities in Asia including India, is embracing innovative technologies and solutions to achieve liveability, inclusiveness and sustainable development model for urban development. The objective of the conference is to raise some of the central questions concerning liveability in cities and find reasonable answers from the domain experts.

Integrating SDGs and Urban Liveability in City Management

Tikender Singh Panwar
Former Deputy Mayor, Shimla
Tikender was the directly elected deputy Mayor of Shimla city. The city has been able to create a vision with the development plan that speaks about inclusive growth, greater planned social infrastructure and in making not just the city but also the citizens resilient. Environment and ecology happen to be the major area of concern and it is because of this reason that the forest cover is being enhanced in the city with people’s participation. A model for democratic decentralisation is being developed by strengthening the ward sabhas and empowering the ward committees. He was also a member of the national task force in the country to review the 74th constitutional, which speaks about decentralised governance. Apart from this Tikender has represented the city and the country on many international events.

India’s Urban Transportation / 18 September / Room 3 / 12:50 pm – 1:00 pm

Futuristic and Sustainable Solutions to India’s Urban Transportation : In collaboration with All India Institute of Local Self Government (AIILSG)
21st Century India is climbing high on the path of progress and development and aspirations are rising high as well. It requires a lot of policy incentives and investments to meet these aspirations. The major locomotive of this growth has to be driven by urban transport which will further boost the growth and generate employment as well. Efficient and reliable urban transport systems are crucial for India to sustain a high growth rate and alleviate poverty. Industries such as services and manufacturing concentrate around urban areas. It requires efficient and reliable urban transport to move workers and connect production facilities. Urban transport in India is already under pressure and the growth of service and manufacturing sector has brought it under further strain. Cities like Chennai, Bengaluru and even National Capital Region have attracted significant investment in the field of technology because of highly qualified workforce. Cities have grown but urban transport in every Indian city is still struggling. Developing an efficient urban transport system should be part of the broad Government policy aimed at improving the attractiveness and competitiveness of Indian cities.
New metro rail act in the offing Delhi Metro – A Transformation in Urban Transportation
Metro rail has become an important mode of transportation. While in earlier days it was identified with Kolkata only, in the last two decades starting from Delhi, now every state is implementing the project in its cities, be it Mumbai, Jaipur, Lucknow, Bengaluru or Kochi.
Aviation sector needs overhauling - Importance of State of the Art Infrastructure for Air Travel
While the Tier 1 cities have all the amenities at airports and have been turned into world class ones, working force has to move quite frequently to Tier2 cities as well. Therefore, it is important that land available with Airports Authority of India be put to good use. It has a huge land bank of almost fifty-five thousand acres across the country. Now glitzy malls, hotels and convention centres are being proposed. But the important fact is that over the next fifteen years India will require an investment of almost three lakh crores in this sector. And where is that going to come from?

Accelerating the Skills Revolution (In collaboration with ICT Academy)
As technology develops at an accelerated pace, cognitive abilities and tasks that were once thought to be reserved for humans are increasingly being carried out by machines, causing a growing concern on the impact of job displacement and the subsequent risks for government, businesses and people. In addition, globalization, demographics, climate change and geopolitical transformations are already being disrupted by workplace digitalization.
There is a window of opportunity now for businesses, education sector and governments to understand and proactively manage the transition to a new future.

Cloud Video Conferencing: It’s Time for the Meeting Room Revolution
Much of the talk in the last year about video conferencing environments has been about huddle rooms. That’s hardly surprising as there’s presently so much growth in that space. However full-sized meeting rooms are incredibly important for many organisations, and a market ripe for disruption. The good news is that something new and interesting is emerging. Simpler solutions for conference rooms are on the rise. Complex, legacy systems are being replaced by conference room add-on devices. These devices have taken up the “Conference Room World" by storm and now have a separate product category all to themselves. We would argue that perhaps we are seeing the emergence of something utterly new. A video collaboration experience that actually works the way users want it to.

Designing for User Experience
Digital art and interactive media are common encounter one can experience while playing an AR game on the cell phone, visiting a museum, or shopping in a mall. What if we add lighting, sound, and motions to the environment or the very seat you are sitting in - that’s right, you are in a theme park. But wait, this is an ordinary week day in an office building, some well suited up business executives are experiencing exactly that.
When a multi-billion dollars real estate development needed a place to conduct business, to showcase the products, to immerse the potential clients in their brand value, a venue will be built – the show suite.
This one hour sharing session introduces the concepts, design, hardware and software tools, and the team of collaborators of some not so typical show suite projects.

How AV Standards Can Help Grow the Business & Market/Eco System
In this non-technical presentation Jonathan Tulip will discuss the benefits to business and the AV industry from the adoption of Audiovisual standards. Providing step by step information on how to use standards as a powerful tool in defending against a race to the bottom environment of corner cutting, sacrifices in quality, skills and safety. Long term outcomes that devalue the Audiovisual industry and provide poor client value can be avoided. This session is intended for System Integrators, Manufacturers and End Users of Audiovisual systems who might recognize that there is a better way to do things but are frustrated by low margin projects that deliver poor value for clients and mediocre experiences for end users.

Adding Video Conferencing into Any App Using SDK
For the last 10 years video conferencing managed to find its way into all spheres of our life and eventually became irreplaceable. This technology has come a long way from a high-end solution to a popular service widely used across the globe every day. The concept of VCaaS is gradually transforming into VCaaF, easily added into any platform or endpoint by means of API/SDK toolkits. API/SDK enables vendors to embed video conferencing into websites, applications, ATMs, vertical appliances, etc. Adding third-party technology into an existing product leads to the dependency you cannot control, which puts your products at unwanted risks.
In our seminar we will discuss how to develop video conferencing-enabled vertical appliances based on our hands-on experience and real case studies. In our session we are going to discuss the main video conferencing technologies available on the market today as SDK. Our presentation will help educate the audience on the importance of video conferencing SDK for high quality custom application development and provide more details on the API/SDK technical issues.
