This session provides an introduction to Auracast - a new version of Bluetooth with exciting implications for assistive listening, interpretation and other wireless communication including silent discos/concerts and museum/educational support.  Attendees will learn about the equipment landscape and adoption rates for BYOD devices ranging from hearing aids and earbuds to mobile phones and TVs.  Main principles for designing an Auracast systems for public spaces will be discussed.  We will explain how Auracast differes from previous generations and other versions of Bluetooth. Finally, we will provide a comparison with other assistive communication technologies and discuss which technologies are most appropriate for different organizations, spaces and applications.
