Roopa is an independent acoustical consultant based out of Bangalore. Roopa is an electronics engineer and has studied MSc. Audio Acoustics from the University of Salford, UK, which is an internationally top-ranked post-graduate degree in acoustics. Over the last few years she has enjoyed working on a wide range of projects over the last few years - on issues ranging from speech intelligibility predictions, standards/norms compliance, to reverberation treatment and building noise control. She has also worked on spaces in hospitality, educational, commercial, residential and public segments and enjoy watching the interplay of theory and measurements as they come together at many levels during the course of the projects.
She is specifically interested in improving workplace noise conditions, speech intelligibility predictions in public spaces, and in schools for special children. While she does believe is that acoustics should be a part of safety standards, in the Indian context, things are very different and this difference in context must be taken into consideration during the design process. Noise does make monsters out of us, and our generation is facing noise issues that didn’t exist earlier, and she hopes to contribute to making the city’s soundscapes bearable with her work

Sarah served on the AVIXA Board of Directors from 2013 to 2015. She organized the inaugural Women of InfoComm Network Breakfast at Integrated Systems Europe in 2015, helping to grow the successful AVIXA Women’s Council, which now supports more than 47 groups around the world. Sarah joined AVIXA in May 2019 after nearly 12 years at Electrosonic Ltd., most recently as Managing Director for EMEA. Electrosonic Ltd is an international audiovisual systems integrator which designs, builds, and supports innovative immersive experiences that help people live, work, and play.
Sarah has worked in the AV industry for more than 20 years and has a breadth of international business experience working with integrators, manufacturers, distributors, and end users within the enterprise, entertainment, and professional services markets.
Sarah works with the AVIXA team and its global partners to help the pro AV industry harness innovation, further encourage diversity, and grow the market for audiovisual experiences and the professionals who create them.

Shubhagato Dasgupta is a senior fellow at CPR and director of the Scaling City Institutions for India (Sci-Fi) Sanitation initiative. His areas of interest include urban infrastructure and service delivery financing, housing and slum rehabilitation, urban sector public finance, and urban environmental infrastructure planning, management, and investment, alternatives. Before coming to CPR, Shubhagato led the Support to National Policies for Urban Poverty Reduction project. Prior to this, he has also worked on issues of urban development with a wide range of other public, private, multilateral, and non-governmental organisations, including as Senior Urban Specialist at the World Bank, Assistant Vice President at the Infrastructure Development Finance Company (IDFC), the Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) and The Action Research Unit.
