With a career spanning over four decades, Kelvin Ashby-King is among the most respected names in the pro-AV and lighting design industry. Originally trained in Psychology and Education at Auckland and Massey Universities in New Zealand, his true passion emerged in lighting, sound, and set design while working on more than 50 major productions across musical theatre, opera, ballet, and drama in New Zealand, Australia, and England. Over the years, Kelvin has held leadership roles with Selecon New Zealand, Inova Audio Visual, and T2 Consulting Group, and today heads Clarity Consulting, a premier AV design and consulting firm with a footprint across India, Dubai, and Southeast Asia.

Kelvin’s work combines technology and artistry, delivering immersive, award-winning experiences across corporate experience centres, museums, enterprise environments, performance venues, and educational campuses. His portfolio includes globally recognised projects such as the Satyam Live Client Briefing Centre and the Dandi Kutir Museum in Ahmedabad. Winner of over 20 prestigious industry awards, including the SIA/AVIXA Lifetime Achievement Award (2016), PALME AV Designer of the Year (2023), and Outstanding Achievement & Service to the AV Industry Award (2023), Kelvin continues to inspire the AV community. A passionate advocate for “painting with light”, Kelvin brings an artist’s eye to technology, blending colour, texture, intensity, and direction to create immersive, emotionally resonant experiences.
